An elevated platform runs down the centre of the 20m-tall and 70m-long atrium. With an integrated reception area encapsulated by its base, the composite-clad steel construction regulates the open atrium’s circulation.

American Gaming Association Offices by OTJ Architects, Washington DC

The ceiling from reception through the pantry draws one through the space, mimicking the configuration of a roulette table and the wedged slots. There is also a ticker – complete with betting lines, odds and scores that are constantly updated – that runs throughout the office that establishes movement and flow all the way down the main circulation corridor.

Inside the building, design elements were inspired by Nestlé’s wide breadth of products and services. The main reception of the building is shaped to resemble a blob of milk; circular elements throughout the space give the space a fluid identity as well.

The design’s outcome creates a library-like experience: on the first level, the traditional lobby-corridor-office layout no longer exists, and has been transformed into a widely open area instead, that includes a bar counter which provides basic management and services to the coworking space.
