Lavina Mall by AVG, Kiev – Ukraine

Texton Foiltec is a transparent cladding consisting of plastic cushions filled with air. It was chosen because of its durableness, strength, lightness and ability to manage the light inside the building – to protect from the natural light when it is too sunny and to create the artificial blackout.

Gaysorn Village by Architects 49 and Cl3, Bangkok – Thailand

Although Gaysorn Village is primarily concepted as shopping mall, there’s also office space to be found, resulting in an impressive total floor area of 180,500 sqm. The mall’s new and slightly futuristic outer shell has been designed by Architects 49, while Hong Kong-based practice Cl3 was commissioned to design its interior.

Instead of occupying one box-like retail unit, Open House’s bookstore weaves its way throughout the entire Open House space. A tall book shelf has been installed at one end of the space, while a large double-height library wall wraps around the other. Smaller book shelves with integrated seating are scattered throughout, blending into the bar and restaurant spaces so people can browse at their leisure.

Located in an important urban space at a busy intersection in Bangkok, Architectkidd proposed to design a permeable architectural envelope for The Street Ratchada where interior activities could be showcased along with outdoor urban activities. The design was realized with the use of Reynobond Aluminum Composite Panels.

At a cost of Aud 140 million the expansion has focused on the so-called West Mall, and aims to cement its current stature as the leading mall Down Under by adding units for 100 new retailers, including a brand new luxury section that has managed to attract twelve luxury brands such as Valentino, Céline, Prada, Dior Homme and Chanel, in addition to an abundance of additional hospitality and leisure tenants.

This space is defined by the colors black and white. Large areas of white highlight the spaciousness and brightness of the area, while black is used to moderate the more complicated lighting and design installations by letting light through the scattered gaps, thus creating a visual focus.

The once influential merchant city may not be your typical shopping paradise, but in the realm of tourism Venice is firmly anchored in the upper ranks of Europe’s most destinations, luring plentiful of well-heeled globetrotters to its doorstep along the way. Situated right next the iconic Rialto bridge, the store holds court in an imposing 13th century building that once served as center of commerce between east and west, featuring no less than 7,000 sqm.
