Minimal colours and circle forms were designed in the parlour. White high gloss furniture elements and silver geometric wallpaper turn up with popping colours of blue and orange chairs.

Aesop stores by Torafu Architects, Tokyo

At Aesop Shin-Marunouchi, the OSB has been stained with a brown colour to distinguish the store with its neighbours within the bright surrounding environment. The central band of display seen stretched across the back wall binds the store space to a single point of focus, naturally drawing customers towards the products.

Tang Palace by FCJC, Hangzhou

Beijing-based design firm FCJC used a limited pallet of bamboo to transform an ordinary space into a stunning contemporary restaurant. The interior of the Tang Palace is enclosed by a flowing grid of bamboo strands that bring the 9 meter-tall room down to human scale and conceal the private dining rooms hung above. Structural elements like concrete column and block walls are made light by the parametric lattice, which was gently sourced and fastidiously erected.
