The client asked us to create a colorful brand, we decided against our philosophy to use 21 colors. It was a conscious choice and a challenge. The brand identity is based on a geometrical grid and a modular system, such combination together with the rhythmic movement of the color elements works for the brand recognizability.

After struggling to find candles on the market that were made from anything other than soy and paraffin, they soon got to work and Lux et Terra was born. All candles are poured by hand and made in small batches in their Fernwood kitchen home on Vancouver Island.

Inspired by the scenery of Munkyung, we drew imaginary village where people are working at farms to make high quality products. The village was drawn based on two Korean letters, “Jin” and “Nam”. We wanted to develop 3 versions of the village.

Each kind of package from the series has it’s unique geometric shape, but together they look like a product family. The unusual shapes of the packages are complemented by the clean and intuitive graphic design. The colored parts indicate where to rip open each packaging.

We produced furniture and finished interior by using wood materials normally used for substrate of furniture and interior finish for reducing the cost. Paint finish with rough texture is applied, so that it “weathers nicely as a taste” along with the time, rather than just becoming “old” after the completion.
