SAKEYA bar by Garde Italy, Milano – Italy

The space concept is in between traditional Japanese sake storage “Kura” and Italian wine storage “Enoteca”. With this mix, we created a façade with the traditional Kura element, which is a grid made by half cylinder. The interior is divided in three areas: Mini-shop, sake-cocktail bar and restaurant.

Glasses are presented in a rustic and yet modern setup in front of a natural brick wall: casually, on “smoked” glass shelves installed between room-high brass rods that almost seem to float. Below them, there is a black MDF sideboard with practical drawers.

BP Lower 48 Office by Fitzsimmons Architects, Oklahoma City – Oklahoma

BP wanted their offices to reflect the changing climate of their company. They wanted to attract a younger professional workforce with a non-corporate atmosphere that was unlike anything they had worked in before — not stuffy and slick. The goal was to create a showpiece that is comfortable to be in and a place that respects the patina and history of the building, which was a historic tax credit project.

The interior majorly uses wood material. The design pursues a more intimate and home-like environment. The first two floors are mainly flowing public space divided by bookshelves. The project is inspired by the concept of marine. We want to show a histrorical charm era about 1930s-1940s. We use some marine elements such as cruise ship door, scuttle, reef stone…..the material of the space including brass, brick wall, walnut wall panel, ceramic tiles and marble mosaic.

Externally, the walls were found covered by different layers of paint and mortar. Internally, a brick wall covered with tiles, hid the original ashlar and masonry walls. Two levels of false ceilings placed at different heights prevented the view of the original wooden structure which composed the roof of the building.

The white wooden frames extend to the white brick wall unevenly on both sides of the store. It was inspired by the waves hitting the shore and then back into the ocean. The whole store uses only white colored materials to highlight the products.

This includes a sleek reception desk with turned timber legs, cut crystal decorative lighting, a recycled timber herringbone strut ceiling and New York loft mullion detailing to the glazed meeting room partitions.

Wood an iron are the main materials used for the furniture, designed by DiDeA and realized by Sicilian artisans. The floor is paved with hexagonal gres tiles; white vintage tiles behind the counter ensure continuity with walls and enhance black iron shelves.
