Nanobit Office by Brigada, Zagreb – Croatia

Following Brigada’s recommendation, when designing the office we paid particular attention not only to work but also to socialization, relaxation, and fun. With a different design for individual zones, a different application and use was defined for each one, and the result is that employees have the feeling they are in an entirely different space, which makes it possible for them to really tune out and relax.

The main characteristics of the spatial concept of Addiko Bank Express are clarity, accessibility and speed. Already in front of the branch office, passers-by are attracted by a touchscreen that can be used to interactively gather information about the services offered, or to check options for fast loans, without even entering the bank.

The office becomes a cozier place with a bit of subtle humor found in details such as the names of these spaces or unexpected details such as satellite antennas.

The first “working” zone has neutral surfaces that are enriched with details employees fill in themselves, such as writable walls or lockers. The second “socializing” zone is more colorful, filled with Zagreb motifs: street number plates, yellow sheeting resembling the city facades, socialist tin can building surfaces, Zagreb’s skyline graphics, etc.

The third area is designed as a more intimate space. Natural linen fabric was used to cover the sealing and for a hand drawn map showing the distance between the bistro and the Zrno Eco Estate. Here, photos in antique frames cover the walls.

The ceiling of the pavilion was filled with hundreds of enlarged, printed pages from all ten annual reports that, suspended from a specially devised substructure, created a unique texture evocative of the tobacco leaves that used to hang in the space while drying.

The new office is divided into several different “areas” on three levels, each with its own distinct characteristics and atmosphere. These new, open workspaces are versatile and allow interaction among colleagues.

Unable to track down lamps that fit the space and budget, we decided to design and produce custom-made lamps ourselves with minimum cost. In the end, the lamps turned out so well that the meeting rooms have been named after them.
