Originally conceived as a changeable space to host both office and living areas, it is shaped by a series of mobile containers that function as room dividers and storage spaces.

With just 40sqm to play with, we ripped the guts out of the space, replaced the decaying roof, introduced a long bi-fold window and small serve-out window, created a feature barista’s coffee bench, and crammed in as many seats and tables as we could.

Unable to track down lamps that fit the space and budget, we decided to design and produce custom-made lamps ourselves with minimum cost. In the end, the lamps turned out so well that the meeting rooms have been named after them.

The goal was to introduce more natural light to dark and overpowering interior. This move redefined new proportions of space and optically enlarged narrow and low room. What’s more, light and transparent finishing materials, such as glass, delicate steel mesh and perforated boards were used to emphasize the openness of new office space.

Designers of mode:lina have recently finalized a shop for Clae footwear. The challenge was to maximize the shopping experience using the lowest budget possible due to shop’s temporality. To create this space architects picked worn out euro pallets used during KontenerART 2012.

A second hand shop designed by dutch practice BYTR architects, ‘Emmaus’ is in the town of De Bilt, the Netherlands. The revamp creates a lighter and airier interior, giving more justice to the articles on display with a system of niches and aisles.
