Bowlero is designed as a retro, hipster-inspired, immersive experience – an escape from the day-to-day. A vintage, 1969 fire-engine-red Ford Mustang convertible, the first of the venue’s many Instagrammable moments, greets visitors at the entrance.

A dramatic stair invites customers to a second floor of gathering spaces, teller desks, private consulting areas and offices. Throughout the space are designs that tie in the brand message including the wood-slat signage with incorporated LED strips that hang above the ground floor community bar and charging station.

The fixtures are designed to hold an abundance of products. Customers are encouraged to interact with the product by easily opening the drawers and feeling samples.

Track lines and negative linear lights overhead drive traffic from the entrance through the store. Stark white features against a dark backdrop creates energy within the space while allowing merchandise and corresponding imagery to take center stage.

LeEco Experience Showroom by CallisonRTKL, Beijing – China

The showroom’s simple, bright white atmosphere pushes the products and content to the foreground, letting them be the hero of the space. The design team created a minimalist space with a stark white palette to keep the design from overwhelming the products and content. Gloss white acrylic panels adorn the walls and wood fixtures, while light gray floor tiles and perforated metal ceiling panels in muted silver add a slight contrast in color.

REI Flagship store by CallisonRTKL, Washington, D.C. – USA

The use of conventional interior finishes, such as drywall, was purposefully minimized, in keeping with the “gear garage” aesthetic. The architecture and material palette is simple, raw, and utilitarian; the walls are lined with exposed plywood and concrete backer board.

An eclectic mix of furniture further contributes to a relaxed ambience, and abstract Chinese paintings behind the bar as well as a fixture comprised of large paintbrushes dangling from the ceiling serve as unique references to Dongpo’s life and work.
