Overlooking Grand Central Terminal, the new 65,000 SF headquarters for our GLG, the world’s largest membership for professional learning and expertise, presented us with the opportunity to shape the transition of their growing company to a highly collaborative workplace specifically tailored to host client-facing teaching and learning events.

The plywood structure rises from the existing oak floor as pony walls supporting the table. Because the movement routes bisect the space, we lifted the table to fly over pathways and maintain surface continuity.

The unified experience is conveyed through creating a single large (though complex) space, with the museum’s back room reinforced as an annex space by painting it black and designating it as a dark room for showing exhibits in low light, and for projecting 3D “fly-through renderings” designed for the show by Shimahara Illustration.
