COMME des GARCONS store renewal by Rei Kawakubo, Berlin – Germany

The transformation comes with a brand new interior, concocted by the brand’s elusive creative honcho Rei Kawakubo. the interior is largely defined by whitewashed walls, black linoleum flooring, and scaffolding-like metal frames are installed across the retail space, serving both as an optical embellishment of sorts, and attaching clothing racks wherever needed.

Thin black beams have been inserted, in a different pattern on each floor, and creating an intriguing spatial effect. These beams simultaneously serve as clothing racks.

Wooden lattice panels – with various cut-outs for built-in clothing racks – are added to playfully create depth. These are matched by small display tables in the same material, and a concrete floor with a subtly crackled surface adds a sophisticated touch.

While the austerity of the design is reinforced by the neon light fixtures, installed in rows overhead, the fluffy pink carpet flooring simultaneously provides a softer, welcoming edge. The store is furnished by only a few items. Sleek metal clothing racks are attached to the wall and most of the storage is cleverly hidden behind sliding doors. The minimalist setting really makes the clothes pop.

Annie Aime is a fashion retail space designed utilizing +tongtong’s series of geometric freestanding clothing racks, Les Ailes Noires. An open-concept flexible environment that can easily be reconfigured for art openings and other events was created to allow the client to be able to evolve her explorations and retail offerings.

Edgy womenswear boutique Cerre relocates to a new stylish spot in west Hollywood. The rectangular-shaped retail space is as stylishly minimalist as the merchandise, featuring a concrete floor and white walls. Black steel clothing racks are placed along the walls and sets of circular tables serve as displays.
