White quartz countertops allow for ample work and display areas for baristas. Existing concrete floors were ground and polished and tie into the lobby’s floors for a seamless transition. Built-in menu boards, cork walls, custom walnut casework and tables, and brass trim complete the detail package.

Called Greybox Coffee, it’s a newly launched division of chinese high-end flower shop Roseonly, and its very first branch has found an appropriate home at Beijing Kerry Centre, one of many glittering high-rise complexes in this high energy part of town. Special attention has been given to the ceiling lighting, comprising of an expansive grid of wooden boxes, each encasing a spotlight.

New York Sweets Pastry Shops by Minas Kosmidis – Architecture in Concept, Nicosia – Cyprus

Having been completed in February 2017, the pared-back, urban influences are apparent from the curbside as the shop’s façade features a metal “grid” which, in conjunction with the lighting scheme, is meant to reference the entrance canopies of NYC’s grand, landmark buildings.

The main lampshade above the counter is composed of 265 paper coffee filters glued together, creating a coffee filter shape on 5 different layers. The rest of the lighting elements and lamps were designed and produced “ad hoc” for Rosttrommel Erlangen by the local artisan, Hans Thomas Langer.

We decided to keep the upper part of the space more “raw” to add some interest and contrast to the whole design. Therefore, we kept the brick walls apparent and painted them in a light shade of grey for protection, but also to have them as a neutral background.
