Zara flagship store by Duccio Grassi Architects, Via del Corso – Rome

The violence we are forced to use on these places can contain the seed of beauty, of contrast, of the unexpected. For example, we happend to create a commercial space restoring the remainings of a Paleochristina church. In the case of Palazzo Bocconi, the building was originally designed with a commercial aim. The volumes are made to be seen as a unity, the sight crosses the whole space. The volumes, the architectures take you by the hand and you cannot do anything but following them.

Apple Store by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson Architects, Shanghai

Here is a design of an Apple store with high-tech glass and steel building with an interior that is very minimal and only as to put an icon on their logo design. Designed by architect Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, who has experience and has worked with Apple stores in New York and in London. The entrance to this store a cube and a glass cylinder, which leads to the local underground beneath a square central business district of Lujiazui in Pudong.

The store also provides footwear, accessories, design objects, and press dedicated to modern culture. On the lower level, a newly refurbished gallery space holds regular exhibitions, showcasing the latest works of artists and designers.

The Italian restaurant ‘Fornostar’ is the latest project of a passionate cook and decorator. Jacques Vanderbeck doesn’t hold a degree in architecture or design, but designed his pizzeria trusting his gut feeling and his preference for unconvential materials, objects and colours. Located in a multicultural area with mainly fish restaurants, Fornostar is without a doubt the odd one out !

Makoto Tanijiri of Hiroshima architects Suppose Design Office has completed an installation at the Diesel Denim Gallery Aoyama in Tokyo, Japan. Called Nature Factory, the installation uses plastic plumbing pipes and joints to create a series of tree-like forms inside the store.
