The pile of blocks is a pixelated 1:350 scale model of the nearby Popocatépetl volcano, including details such as the crater and the volcano’s extensions at its foot.

Steel frames form the main structural system, with transparent and translucent perspex boxes slotted in between the gaps. The architects liken the shape the blocks create to a mausoleum and a space capsule.
