AER Acrylic Tableware Collection by DUA

This Vase & Fruit Bowl were designed as part of the AER Acrylic Tableware collection. It is constructed from 4 mm acrylic and bonded together with translucent glue which cures in white light. The collection experiments with the idea of suspending objects in space and were inspired by air bubbles in water.

Each module is an right-angled isosceles triangle built out of hot-rolled mild steel. These are supported on three triangular legs, which converge at a central point. The table can be arranged in a multitude of organisations and sizes dependent on the event or meeting.

With brass dominating the interior, all other elements would simply act as a backdrop. Thus the original interior was stripped back to the core exposing the existing stone walls and concrete floors.

Produced in collaboration with DUA, Miriam Aust and Sebastian Amelung of German studio Aust & Amelung have designed ‘Like paper’, a slewed concrete lamp series that takes shape from what looks to be folded paper.
