The International Center of Photography (ICP) is a leading institution dedicated to photography and visual culture. It formerly was housed in a two-storey space in Midtown Manhattan. Its new home is located at the base of a residential building in the Lower East Side – a formerly rundown district that has gentrified in recent decades.

At the centre of the facility is a large, sculptural ramp that winds through small displays, as well as a life-size tree decorated in over a thousand “flowers” made from crumpled and folded Nestlé packaging.

Otsuka-Gofukuten kimono shop by Yusuke Seki, Kyoto

Yusuke Seki planned the store with three separate displays areas, allowing a clear distinction between different styles and price ranges to make the experience easier for the customer. Brightly coloured and patterned fabrics are presented on industrial wooden shelves at the centre of the store, while more material is hung from metal frames and some is laid out in wooden drawers.

Although the office would specifically house architects, the architects designed a multipurpose working space that simply and clearly honors the rudiments of work: vast work surfaces, massive natural light, fresh air, generous storage, and clearly individuated workstations that add up to a coherent, palpable group.
