Fuel station & McDonald’s by Giorgi Khmaladze, Batumi – Georgia

The building opens to the street with an opaque, tiled underbelly that shelters the fuel stations, while a faceted semi-circular circulation space is bordered by an indoor garden. The greenery fans out like a stadium, providing lush visual respite for the McDonald’s patrons inside the layered hallway.

WOODEN STORE INTERIORS! WakuWaku Dammtor by Ippolito Fleitz Group, Hamburg

The large, open façade provides an unrestricted view of a space, which is almost entirely encased in solid wood panelling, creating the ideal stage to display the products in the WakuWaku world. One side wall with floor-to-ceiling shelving integrates both display compartments and glass-fronted refrigerators.

Canalla Taqueria fast food restaurant by Manifiesto Futura, San Pedro

Canalla is a project that had us sweating a few drops. We wanted to show our traditional fast food, the taco, as a Mexican taco joint a walking ranger would stop for. We had to work with raw materials and make a bunch of prototypes and sketches before we made our final pick.

Play Pot restaurant by Lim Tae Hee Design Studio, Seoul

With the idea to break the barrier between interior and exterior space, designer Lim Taehee injected stereotypes of a typical street vendor into an interior space. Metaphorical road signs are used throughout, while potted flowers and industrial surfaces further enhance the ‘outdoor’ feeling.

Chicken Cottage fast food restaurant by Retail Mark Design, Oldham

The store is one of the largest in the area with a double fronted design and spreads across two floors. Since the redesign, the store has seen an increase in traffic, increase in occupancy time and delivery orders. Key elements used include, DAN design light shades, laminated digital print wallpaper, minimalistic fixed seating design, and LED lighting.

WakuWaku ECO restaurant by Ippolito Fleitz group, Hamburg

This unique sustainability fast food restaurant interior design concept is located in Hamburg’s city centre German. Designed by Ippolito Fleitz group, this sustainability restaurant concept pervades the entire technical restaurant equipment – from energy-efficient kitchen technology, to the team uniform made from FAIRTRADE-certified materials, to economical hand dryers in the toilets. The designer manage to translate the principle of sustainability into an overriding architectural concept.

Fast food restaurant design was no challenge for Hong Kong-based designer Danny Chan, the former chief interior designer of Steve Leung Designers Ltd., and John Chan Design Ltd. Danny Chan has contributed to the trendy and fashionable re-branding of Maxim’s Fast Food and designed many outlets in the Fairwood franchise; today, Chan is the director to his own entrepreneurial quest, Beige Design. Commissioned to design a branch of the Fairwood Buddies Café in the Citygate mall in Tong Chong, conveniently located at the end of the ‘fast track’, the fast food restaurant takes a refreshing scoop of design and an interesting approach where the space is filled up with geometric hexagonal shapes!
