We flooded the space with more than a thousand hangers that, because of their intrinsique aesthetic value involves the user in a unique ambient. Hangers are almost renegade in the store design, their functional pertinence is such that they’re almost always thrown backstage.

The interior is inspired by the functional aesthetic of american high school stadiums, and as such it features a tunnel entrance, stands for live-game viewing on big screens, locker rooms instead of dressing rooms, and track and field areas where avid shoppers can test and experience products. To signal the brand’s embrace of environmental principles, sustainability is very much at the core of the design.

Once inside, the U shaped skylight could not be neglected and became also part of the design process. Metallic frames, 3,2 meters high, used as hangers, are suspended in the area, elevating the upper limit and giving a three dimensional impression into the space. Those frames can slide and turn all along the skylight and give so, the flexibility to design the space as desired.

Inspired by the large wooden crates used in the shipping industry, the design for Zalando’s Pop-Up Store features three free-standing boxes, each revealing a seperate collection. The boxes are placed at angles to the concrete walls, guiding the visitor through the space as they discover the assorted rooms of the furniture.
