C7DESIGN was commissioned to support the event with and creative direction for the main hall. To present Hiromichi Ochiai’s future thinking fashion brand Facetasm, we have designed a kinetic sculpture inspired by the movement of bird wings.

The rotunda draws daylight into the building, as well as providing an eye-catching view of the kinetic street spectacle outside. A cylindrical marble tower within the rotunda houses the escalator, while the journey upwards leads into a stepped ‘amphitheater’ populated with mannequins.

Issey Miyake kinetic window display by Drawing and Manual, Ginza

A split-flap display was chosen as the device to present moving images of the design for the season’s window display. Constructed out of 42 perspex made split-flaps, each column is controlled by a single arduino, where in total, seven of them construct images in tandem or individually by controlling servos in each.
