Beyond the concept founded on the historical connection, another architectural premise was to integrate the building with the city, which led to bring nature into the store, now in vertical gardens on the walls now in ornamental palms.
From the rapidly renewable bamboo, recycled metals, modular furniture, locally sourced products, FSC certified wood, LED lighting, and the simple methods of construction with just a socket set, the space is brimming with thoughtful choices relative to the future.
The headquarters will house a state-of-the-art 90,000 sf newsroom for NPR’s award-winning broadcast operation; a multi-purpose performance studio and event space; conference and training center; and a “This Is NPR” exhibit depicting the story of NPR. The project is certified LEED Gold.
A full core & shell renovation and interior fit-out of the landmark Argonaut Building, in the heart of Midtown, for the not-for-profit organization founded by George Soros. Scope includes a new conference center with gallery, 8 full floors of office space, and a rooftop cafeteria with terraces.
