A shiny aluminium tunnel, that has been hammered into textures to refract the light, transports you from the non-descript brick facade outside to a futuristic wonderland indoors. The 465m2 white-walled interior is dotted with gold curved partitions, each of which create a module that harbours clothing as unconventional as the setting they sit in.

We began the project by thinking about how it might be possible to reinvent the idea of a floral motif. We were particularly interested in electron scanning microscope images of flower petals, which reveal tiny three-dimensional wave patterns across the petal surface.

Some unique features of the project include the lights changing to the beat of the music playing in the store, the ability to change the colours of the lights when needed if the store has an offer on one of the fruits of flavours for example orange and yellow for orange and banana flavours.

The displays for jewellery, timepieces and leather goods seem to form a landscape along the horizon, reminiscent of the ships and roofs dotting the coastline of Skagen. All of these individual pieces create a panorama for exploration, much like the many personalities that give the town of Skagen its unique character.

Havana faded glamour, weaves through the aesthetic of the space; the decorative timber floor creates a feeling of the old ballroom style rooms along with a decorative ceiling coffer with detailed cornicing housing three large feature chandeliers.

Elements of graphics design inspired the feature wall in the office space, which also compliments the existing grid ceiling. We loved the idea of two-dimensional surfaces leading into three-dimensional one’s, where shapes on the wall lead into objects and furniture, allowing visual play and an eye-catching feature.
