Isole Modular Seating by Luca Nichetto and Nendo for &tradition

The two prolific designers co-created the design through a process of going back and forth with ideas inspired by Japanese poetry. The result is Isole, which is Italian for ‘islands’, a unique sofa system that allows for various configurations.

The idea is based upon a blank sheet of graph paper or blank notebook to symbolize endless possibility and creativity. With this concept, a series of bespoke modules and a continuous lattice display system has been created.

The brief from Offecct was to create a new kind of sound panel that didn’t have to be fixed on the wall but more a free standing object, and at the same time work with recyclable felt made of garbage from their upholstery production. Notes not only absorb sound, but also help divide space in a new and exciting way.
