Where architectural and structural elements were uncovered, retained, and exposed from previous renovations, others served as inspiration for modern elements: new tiles take inspiration from 1800s colors and patterns used throughout the building while a remnant of Victorian wallpaper serves as the inspiration for proposed future ironwork.

The main hall inside La Nonna lies under a vault from which a 1,500 brassed metal spoon lamp is suspended. This lamp was manufactured specifically for this project. The chairs are built with oak, and its legs refer to traditional Italian rolling pins.

While the use of natural materials like wood and stone emphasized the feeling of outdoors, the choice of copper and carrara marble in the atelier sections created a less industrial cooking space for workshop participants.
