Philippe Starck dedicated over seven years to this project where he has visited Brazil several times in order to develop a deep knowledge of its culture, materials, shapes, craftsmen and suppliers. This was a necessary step for the creative director of the project.

SPEETBOX BY STARCK stove

A box filled with stones accumulates heat during the heating phase and gradually diffuses it for more than 24 hours once the stove has been stopped, in contrast with only a few hours for a fireplace or conventional wood-burning stove.

Triptyque Architecture was chosen by Philippe Starck to develop, under his art direction, the architectural project of TOG\’s São Paulo Global Flagship Store (Rua Iguatemi, 236), the first direct monobrand retail project from TOG, with the ambition of stirring up the concept of selling design.

The signature black, grey and neutral wall surfaces are present with interesting features, a wall mounted flat screen on grey Render tiles, a bold digital wall clock painting and a fun detail of a vintage typewriter above the black framed entrance to the adjoining room, the ‘office’.

At street level, a flexible space is used as a pop-up shop or gallery. A side entrance elevator lobby with illustrations of Copenhagen by local artist Tim Bjorn leads guests to the reception area.

The entire collection of seating and tables are produced in transparent polycarbonate using injection molding technology–one of the key points to mention is the ability of having producing the ‘Uncle Jack’ sofa using this method because of its size of almost 2 metres long, something which has not previously been possible.
