Furnishing comprise of a variety of simple wooden shelving and displays, framed by polished concrete flooring and an exposed ceiling dipped in a dark grey hue and dotted with a multitude of spotlights.

The palette is meticulously calibrated, and combines a variety of materials and textures, including an exposed wooden ceiling, flooring of concrete terrazzo, a chunky granite-clad trapezoid display, and a cool selection of furnishings, either custom-made or carefully sourced, creating a setting that subtly hints the allure of a well-designed private home.
The transformation of the premises has been inspired by both the history and park-side location of this former college building. The original lecture hall and science lab have been retained while other spaces have seen an equally meticulous transformation, using cool cartoon-like graphics and pops of colour.
After having launched three stores in the Sydney area, Australian fashion label Bassike shifts its focus southwards to open its first retail outpost in Melbourne. The store occupies the ground floor of an oversized red brick corner structure, and has been designed by Kelvin Ho of architecture + design practice Akin.
The store design is meant to provide the stage set for that life-style, looking more like been granted access to a private mansion-with its attendant public and private rooms -than a store. For this first Flagship in Moscow, the interior was to evoke the luxurious interiors of turn-of-the-century Russia as the setting for an iconic American brand: Anna Karenina meets Ralph Lauren.
