We wanted to create something unexpected in a sea of exhibition stands. SFD’s vision, communicated from the outside and throughout, builds momentum as the visitor moves through the structure and becomes more familiar with the brand.

MatchesFashion store by SFD, London – UK

The resulting concept respected both the local area and unique space as well as the identity of Matches and the premium brands it stocks. Reclaimed timber flooring, raw steel tube fixtures and striking Barrisol-style lighting create an environment that’s visually inspiring yet commercially practical.

Emaar and Harrods showroom by sfd, London – UK

The modern style showroom is softened by a lounge area with complimentary soft furnishings and library of architecture and interior design books. This adds a sense of comfort hinting that you have been transported to one of their stylish apartments they have to offer.

Layered translucent materials and nostalgic school lockers formed the backdrop to the scheme, with neon strip lights reflecting the colours of the Olympic rings illuminating the window and the props. The neon lights were used in a variety of ways, from inside the lockers to being held by the mannequins as batons, bringing vibrant life to the scheme.

Using raw and industrial materials like spruce pine, concrete and untreated steel – with clean white finishes elsewhere – sfd designed a contrast between the interior’s starkness and the vivid shopfront.

The new identity unites each pillar under the sfd brand as well as allowing its respective team to more effectively present their area of expertise and to develop their portfolio. After a bit of renaming, we’re proud to present the design team as +Studio, the mannequin team as Nude and the store development team as +Build.

A focus on detail was key for us to ensure that the signature bleached wood finish was consistent throughout the building while creating a contemporary backdrop. Creativity Vs productivity was a key factor within the brief and this is reflected through mini pockets of play throughout the space.

A stand that was inviting along with being aesthetically imposing led us to fluid and organic forms, with Zaha Hadid as a particular reference point.

The phone boxes were made and finished in monochrome to accent the clothing and contrast against the backdrop, while pink props were featured sporadically throughout the windows to draw attention and reinforce the colour scheme.
