The overall task lighting is dependent on the lower sections of the tenancy walls, and at the same time is a major element in the overall design scheme. The tenancy column at the heart of the space has been shed of any existing finishes by its previous tenant and now stands true to its raw form.

The stand, anchored by a raised backdrop, sets a scene descriptive of a vintage motorcycle garage. Battered garage doors fixed to steel roller wheels, large scale light-boxes and hanging lights are suspended amongst a display of mannequins, all framed within a stage of concrete block work.

This collaborative journey culminated in the discovery of the Toy Kingdom; a space that reflects the prestige of Harrods all the while manifesting into unexpected and mesmeric worlds. The Big Top, The Enchanted forest, The Wonderland, The Odyssey and The Reading Room make up the five dreamscapes.

A strong timber framework provides the skeleton of the design to both stands dividing the walls and giving placement and order to a variety of raw materials. A family of factory style trolleys and clever manipulation of surfaces such as oversized pegboards and mesh walls provide a quirky platform for display of merchandise and accessories.

Shed developed a response to the brief with a concept based on garden landscape ideology. With the seasonal nature of the product, the scheme needed to demonstrate flexibility whilst providing a picturesque backdrop to the ever-changing product lines.

Spencer Hart flagship store by Shed and Nick Hart, London

A former bank in London’s Mayfair district has been revamped into a luxe menswear shop. The Spencer Hart flagship store has incorporated many of the space’s original features into its new design. Highly fenestrated windows, a stunning entrance portico and high bank ceiling have remained intact. The new focal point, however, is a circular hanging unit used to display ties and swatches.
