Situated right in the middle, in between four massive columns, is a circular bar marked by backlit onyx panels and situated right below a suspended brushstroke sculpture inspired by calligraphy, and which serves as a focal point of the space.

CADA Design’s monochromatic scheme showcases the brands iconic pastel packaging ranges. Integrated strip lighting has been placed into the shelving units to highlight the products, drawing the customers eye and in turn increasing sales.

Aesop ION store by Snøhetta, Singapore

Inspired by the site’s history, Snøhetta, the firm behind the recent SFMOMA extension, used a collection of materials, colours and forms to create what they call an “upside-down forest”. A dark sisal carpet references the orchard floor, while thin timber battens hanging from the ceiling suggest a series of tree trunks.

The living room, marked out by a change in the tile pattern, emulates a domestic living space. Furnished with a combination of vintage furniture and modern lighting, this ‘chill out’ space invites the customer to relax and socialise with fellow customers within the store.

Levi Strauss pop-up boutique by RCG, Auckland – New Zealand

To reflect Levi’s classic American style and effortless ‘cool’, we selected materials such as raw wood, steel, canvas, rope and exposed brick. We recycled existing hang bar fixtures, created shelving units made from construction plywood and designed counters and display tables made from timber pallets. And the walls were painted in Levi’s signature red.  

La Rinascente department store by Nendo, Milan

Mobile rails and shelving units are made of white metal with stands that look like they’re peeling away. Pendant lights were inspired by those seen hanging from wires between buildings above the streets in Milan and concessions are tucked into archways referencing Milanese architecture.

This design job required a compelling concept, which visually differs from an ordinary retail store. The goal was to inspire people through the attractive design to step into the store and become new customers. For this reason the design had to be very clever and appealing, but keeping it in the required budget range.
