Standardized boxes of this kind are mostly ordered by hospitals and similar customers. Here, they meet with an entirely new task. Pipes used for the tripod are joined by massive cast aluminium fittings otherwise typically used for handrails in trams or buses.

The boutique takes up the whole of the East Atrium and Gallery on the 2nd floor (where all the China and Glass used to be) and is designed to be reminiscent of a stately home; the Garden Room is a tropical paradise, the Budoir is all about seduction and the Piano Room is the height of decadence.

Situated on the second floor, the pop-up consists of a three metre wall encrusted with wood marquetry. The inlays include walnut, oak and golden veneers that create an abstract graphic pattern. The space mixes influences from this traditional and intricate craft with modern elements of copper and steel, and is the perfect setting to showcase the collection of modern men’s shoes.

Feminine seduction culled from the ambience and palette of a 17th-century Rembrandt painting is at the heart of the shoe shop Bethsabee. The painting’s frame became a subtle interior feature used in the decoration of the ultra-long counter and walls.
