10DAYS Shop in shop furniture by Soft Architecture, Amsterdam – The Netherlands

A series of modular furniture is developed to use in small boutiques as well as in department stores. This new line exists of three different furniture pieces and a playful logo block.

Encircling the space is a 20-meter arched structure that, from a distance, gives the appearance of tufted fabric pulled taught over a frame. But in fact, this structure is built from a plywood “skin” that designer Pan Yicheng of PRODUCE Workshop has dubbed “fabricwood.”

Occupying a twenty meter long by seven meter wide space, a plywood surface stretches across the entire site like a sail of tensile fabric, with symmetrical qualities that take on the proportions of the Herman Miller logo.

The first eye-catcher upon entering the store is a dark, completely mirrored ceiling opening with a highlight lamp made up of 120 individual LED glass spheres. This elaborate ceiling design has a brilliant and very elegant effect. Surrounding light strips give the room a generous and airy appearance while supporting the straight lines of its modern furnishing.

A framing element of wet chestnut timber encapsulates each space while threaded merino yarn works to create subtle area dividers. This rustic material palette contrasts with the black steelwork of the fixtures and bold, brushed steel Icebreaker logo present at each site.

The 15-sq.m. shop-in-shop had to have various commercial uses: in addition to its sales function, the shop also had to be a place where demos could be organised as well as providing brand support and experience. Mojo fulfilled all of these requirements, designing and installing an adequate concept which captures the Italian urban lifestyle to a tee.
