Above this space, we placed the symbolic with imported shining crystal chandelier to enhance our concept of the star and bring fabulous lighting to the property. Along the corridor, we intentionally place lighting in different size and difference direction to mimic the star in the sky.

For the display shelves and other fixtures where function is needed we will use vibration finish stainless steel which incorporates with the grey color of soft stone well. We aimed to portray the man made artifacts co-existing with the harsh side of nature, also considering the entire store atmosphere a single saucer to catch all the products shown.

Visitors could come into this space alone through a narrow entrance, walk slowly and circle the space with the playing of background music which has a sense of ritual. While looking through the gaps between the bamboos, semi-finished Chinese Southern lion and Chinese leather drum placed in the centre could be seen; it is like a journey from outside to inside of both your inner self and the environment.

The outfitting is playful and unconventional. The strip of wood separating the meeting area near the atrium from the walking routes is multifunctional. Along its length, this structure transitions from being part of the floor, to convenient seating, and even into functional work desks.

The perforated aluminium exterior is the most dominant of the three layers. During daylight hours it is only possible to see through it at close range, but it becomes transparent by night when lights shine through from inside.

The sun shines through the irregular structure of fine wooden branches and it gives interesting interior lighting effect. The contrast of light and shadows cast on the individual elements of the interior sort of natural projection, which varies throughout the day with movement of the sun.

The first idea was to “recreate” the feeling of being in a pasture; through a play of light and shadows generated by a space which envelopes the visitor. The abstraction of this idea is finally embodied in a structural skin of wooden slats, which define the space while giving it a cozy feeling.

The concept for the design is based on the “mechanisms of contemporary commerce”. So, the block of conference and meeting rooms is set up like a market street with signage. The louvered wall is broken up and patterned to reference the vitality of a marketplace.

We then surround our tree with the spaces we would spend most of our time in, namely the conference room and our working area. A floor-to-ceiling double-glazing enclosure allows our tree to be omnipresent. Additionally, we devised a way to physically ‘bring’ the tree inside by capturing its shadows.
