The second floor is designed to have a combination of bench seats and movable tables; the cylindrical vault for the ceiling; and for lighting a series of indirect light and spot light, aiming at each of the table tops; these features of the design strengthen a sense of depth.

The design is black and white and the only colors in the space are the food colors. Main wall covered wood surface fluted waves combined hidden LED lighting with ceiling spotlights. The entire ceiling of the space is made of stretched fabric which allows reflective space.

The main interior is minimal and sanitized, yet warmed up by the wooden tables and service desks. Other functional elements, such as a reverse-tripod coat rack or a bait-like magazine hanger, provide hints of playfulness.

For the teppanyaki area, in order for partial views by people who walk by, we use rice paper sandwich with timber frame and with a right height and size window glass opening in the middle. The purpose of the opening is to give sense of excitement from chef performance for people who pass by.

The layout and features of the store have been formulated to respond to the site constraints. An efficient operation at the back of house is paramount to cater for the fast turnover of items. To lengthen and elongate the site, linear dowels assist in drawing the eye into the space.

Edamame Sushi + Grill is a unique and new restaurant environment designed around an upscale cafeteria style experience. Intimate Dining Pods at various levels frame the open Kitchen complimenting the active environment within the exterior green enclosure. This “Pan Asian” environment immerses diners in the design concept of the restaurant.

Inside the comfort to the space is brought by lowering the ceiling height, with the use of suspended betula wood beams across the restaurant, the suspended lighting appears between each wood beam to provide the exact illumination on each table.
