A quirky mash-up of materials, colours and details, the overall look is very coherent and makes generator Berlin a welcoming place that quickly grows on you. There’s rough wood panelling and open ceilings, raw copper panels against black walls in the basement and the simple furniture and mastic asphalt in the breakfast area that contrast with the mirrored ceiling in the bar are just some examples of the design details that are featured.

At street level, a flexible space is used as a pop-up shop or gallery. A side entrance elevator lobby with illustrations of Copenhagen by local artist Tim Bjorn leads guests to the reception area.

Entry through its main doors towards the left leads guests to the warm and energetic hotel lobby and a rear bar with a vibrant mix of textures and patterns, including the ornate Hungarian concrete floor tiles.

Momofuku restaurant by James K.M. Cheng & The Design Agency, Toronto

The Momofuku Toronto complex includes three restaurants: Noodle Bar, an adaptation of the East Village original, Daishō, an eighty-seat space with an emphasis on large format meals, and Shōtō, a 22-seat tasting menu restaurant. There’s also Nikai, a swanky bar and lounge.
