The space feels clean, modern, light and airy through the use of pale timbers set against white walls. A splash of colour is provided from the wall art, and the small fixing details throughout the space. The fixtures have also been created with flexibility and modularity in mind.

Making benefit of the existing textiles, blockwork and brick are unified in pale blue and used as a backdrop, over which large theatre style stage flats are hung to enhance the sense of a creative and moving space. Ceiling gridwork further supports the capabilities of the store to use the 3D volume of space and present clear merchandising collections together with brand events, including London Fashion Week.

The colour palette was mostly monochromatic, and it was Hello Flamingo’s job to drive the creative concept to include the camouflage print. So, the design team gave each of the cut-outs their own camouflage shadow – which you can find in the season’s collection.

The team developed a new experimental engraving technique allowing the light to be captured across the panel, spanning 2 metres in width and 3 metres in height. The panel was illuminated from all four edges to highlight the etching and produce a white neon effect.

The Hummingbird Bakery’s seventh UK branch by rpa:group, Guildford Surrey – UK

Wall finishes of the new bakery are 30% clad in ivory oak panels with a feature wall composed of hand-finished tiles and a digital mosaic of the iconic Hummingbird Bakery logo. The floor is concrete resin, interlaid with tiles around the counter area in a herringbone pattern, whilst lighting is a mix of bespoke LED halo lights and brushed copper aluminum pendant lights.

To properly follow with materials the dynamic soul of the store, the riveted aluminium used for old planes came naturally: it perfectly follows the sinuosity of the store and helps to give the dynamic effect through its reflections and brightness.
