Sky on the 5th Fine Dining by Clifton Leung Design Workshop, Guangzhou

Sandwiched between the stretched fabric is an elongated sky light – an inverted “catwalk ceiling” in glass running the full length of the restaurant. This inverted “catwalk ceiling” is designed to create two different atmospheres, bringing in natural sunlight during daytime, while creating a mood ambiance at night.

With the idea to break the barrier between interior and exterior space, designer Lim Taehee injected stereotypes of a typical street vendor into an interior space. Metaphorical road signs are used throughout, while potted flowers and industrial surfaces further enhance the ‘outdoor’ feeling.

Float pendant light form cork

The Float pendant light, a hand-turned design crafted from a large block of recycled agglomerate cork, is a collaboration between Benjamin Hubert and Scandinavian lighting manufacturer & Tradition.
Made using traditional woodworking techniques, the light is a striking design that is produced with minimal impact on the environment. The simplicity of the object’s form draws the focus to the materiality of the cork. When lit, the light reflected within the shade produces a warm glow emphasised by the cork.
