Ancient textile detail and exotic organics are exuded in the facade of the silk road tea. One is drawn to the space by the bright red door and oversize white cherry blossom logo covering half of the building in an organic pattern reminiscent of ancient Japanese textile detail.

As the store name implies, the silk road tea boutique presents a timeless design concept. A historical nod is given to Japanese block print art with the engraved logo iteration on the front of the wood cash desk and ancient pottery is referenced with wabi sabi textural paint finishing on all the walls for a subtle hand made clay-like texture.

A curated gray palette of painted coy fish scales give a waterfall effect and a custom concrete look floor design weave pattern and adornment into the accent areas of the space for a detailed craftsmanship effect.

Ancient silk road travels come to mind as one peruses the exotic tea selections combined with contemporary feature displays of beauty products and taste / test areas to engage the senses. It is the culturally rooted textural elements, and the subtly warm colour palette of the store that compliments the artisan products and presents a journey of the senses to the customer.

All white with simple clean lines and screen pattern chairs provide a Zen sparse setting for educational tea related sessions to occur upstairs in the space for group gatherings and further exploration.

Less is more with plenty of space to breathe for the overall feel of this store concept and the journey is touched and smelled in this project’s spatial setting.
