Japanese company “baLon” manages beauty salons in Japan. They’ve been working to create relaxing environments to make their visitors beautiful. The key point of this retail design is that they used wood and green. Their new shop “baLon.fem” in Fukuoka, however, is designed with an art gallery theme. They created “new relaxing space” for their target customers who love/follow new things/trends.

Although the space is not large, the effect of making gates that light up the entire line and the gray mirror which is used on the closet made the space visually large enough. For the reception counter and the set stand of the symbolic elements of this salon were created by combining mortar and solid wood to leave a sense of each texture and finished it into a simple design with a solid feeling.

Also, by using casters on all legs, it’s added lightness and flexibility to furniture and mixed with the space. It’s like an art gallery with a sense of openness by showing large items floating in a simple space. Furthermore, as a sharpness of the space, building see-through partition of expanded metal and using black iron so that it was made a contrast without feeling locked up.
