As one of London‘s fixtures in luxury retail, Harvey Nichols has successfully banked on this prominent stature, expanding its retail network on home turf and abroad, in particular in Turkey and across the Middle East. The company’s newest department store, a collab with the Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana Group, has just bowed in the Qatari capital Doha. It’s a renewed expansion in a region that meets an ongoing high demand of luxury goods, and also serves to boost the city’s reputation as a shopping destination, similarly to the more established neighbouring tinseltowns of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Kuwait.
Settling at Doha Festival City, a prestigious mall complex on the northern outskirts of town, the Harvey Nichols store occupies no less than 80,000 sq.ft. (7,432 sqm.) set across three floors. The interior design, created by London-based Studio Four IV, is obviously an opulent affair, oozing a style that blends luxurious materials and bespoke finishes, and seamlessly connects with local culture. A central veil concept based on the traditional Arabic residence is featured throughout the premises, and the design also sees nifty high-tech embedded into stunning glass panels produced specially for the project.
Elsewhere the square edge concept pairs corroded metals with large panels of precisely selected precious stones, including marbles, alabaster and onyx. An abundance of specially sourced furnishings not only provides each store section a distinct look, but also adds a welcoming homey vibe to the shopping experience. The new Harvey Nichols store carries a tightly curated range of luxury womenswear, menswear, accessories, beauty, kidswear and lifestyle products.
