Turkish design studio, Nēowe, showcases finely-decorated and sophisticated chocolates with a shop resembling a glass cabinet in a jeweller’s shop. The team was inspired by the brand’s signature half dome chocolates and planned to translate their color and unique personality through custom-made terrazzo tiles. Every element is custom made and produced by local companies in the petite space, resulting in a memorable chocolate boutique in Turkey.

Nēowe chose brass frames and stained-glass for the front facade to create an atmosphere that breaks the mundane look of the surrounding public area. The guests are welcomed with the brand’s slogan ‘guilty pleasures’, created from onyx marble. Art deco elements and an elegant design approach are dominant in the interior space. Brass and terrazzo materials provide integrity by intertwining the whole volume.

The material and color palettes reference the aesthetic of the brand and creates a warm, detailed, and multi-layered space. The interior offers visitors a chocolate box illusion that is carved out of a single piece of terrazzo cube. The display units, which are covered with handmade terrazzo tiles, offer a seamless transition between the surfaces and continuity in the space.

Circular elements force the boundaries of the construction without breaking the rules. The terracotta-colored walls and ceilings become a background for the custom designed brass lighting fixtures. Spotlights shine through the golden flakes, which were installed on the site manually, creating a dynamic light effect in the shop’s interior.

The ice cream display with brass knobs is camouflaged with terrazzo plates that reflect the Nēowe’s deliberate attention to details. Custom-made tables match the materials and geometries used in the space, including the combination of brass and terrazzo, while the seating that is signed ‘lisette’ emphasizes the brand’s aesthetic and timeless design approach.
