Although already well-represented in Tokyo‘s urban sprawl with seven standalone boutiques and shop-in-shops, Officine Universelle Buly sees room for further growth and opened a new shop in the downtown business district of Marunouchi. The store occupies a 66 sqm. (710 sq.ft.) unit on the ground floor of Marunouchi Brick Square, a large mixed-use complex alongside Naka dori, one of the tree-lined streets that run across the area. Similar to all other Officine Universelle Buly retail spaces, the interior design has been created by co-founder Ramdane Touhami and Art Recherche Industrie, the brand’s affiliated Paris-based creative agency. The chosen design codes are a meticulously fusion of both Japanese and French cultural references, and sees Travertine tile flooring and ornately moulded wall panelling paired with a ceiling and shelving backdrops of shiny metal that reference Marunouchi’s soaring modern skyline. Upon entering the premises, shoppers encounter a bench clad in bright orange and placed against a trapezoid glass shelving unit laden with merchandise. Display cabinets line the walls, and at the far end, a large metal counter with built-in display cabinet anchors the space. The new Officine Universelle Buly store is the largest in the Land of the Rising Sun, and carries the brand’s full range of face, body and hair care products, fragrances and grooming utensils.
