Following Milan and London, Japanese sneaker brand Onitsuka Tiger has inaugurated a third European flagship store in Barcelona. Nestled on Passeig de Gràcia, arguably the city’s most prestigious shopping artery, the retail space occupies a two-level unit on the premises of Casa Malagrida, a listed landmark structure built in 1906-1908 by Catalan architect Joaquim Codina i Matalí. The interior design sees a renewed collaboration with Milan-based architecture practice Studio Dini Cataldi, and features an understated aesthetic infused with the brand’s signature bright yellow hue. The ground floor is an open dynamic space framed by polished floors, reflective walls and a sleek lattice ceiling. While natural light pours into the store, s series of illuminated panels add a futuristic touch.

The Onitsuka Tiger’s collections are showcased on a variety of displays throughout the premises with a mix of yellow and contrasting dark tones that draw attention to the products. Minimalist shelving units are strategically placed to highlight the many designs. The lower level, in the basement, is home to a gallery space where an archive collection of Onitsuka Tiger‘s historic sneakers are currently exhibited to commemorate the opening of the retail space. The new Onitsuka Tiger flagship store stocks the full range of sneakers, apparel and accessories. Additionally, in celebration of the store opening, a special Mexico 66 NM shoe model from the popular Nippon Made Collection will be exclusively released here. © superfuture
