Fontagard Single Malt Range Design

Distillerie de Fontagard approached the project with a clear ambition: create an accessible range of French single malts designed as an entry point into the brand universe, while preserving the authenticity and heritage of the distillery.

The challenge was not to simplify whisky itself, but to make it easier to understand and navigate.

The design system is built around three distinctive expressions:

TERROIR – rooted in Charente origins and local barley
FUMÉ – expressing smoky notes and the intensity of fire
FÛTS – exploring wood influence and cask maturation

The packaging architecture was designed to create immediate understanding through:

a new bottle shape with a simpler and more direct presence
preservation of the existing logo to maintain brand continuity
a color system allowing instant identification of each expression
clear information hierarchy to improve readability
stronger shelf impact while keeping premium cues

The range extends through a coherent secondary packaging system, reinforcing both recognition and storytelling across touchpoints.

Rather than creating distance through complexity, the project aimed to open the world of French single malt to a broader audience while remaining true to Fontagard’s identity.
