Inside Studio’s design for the Zebra Technologies Offices in Montreal reimagines the workplace experience by enhancing connections and collaboration through vibrant geometric patterns and a warm, textured material palette that reflects the brand’s identity while adhering to established workplace standards.

Working within a set of pre-established workplace standards developed by Zebra Technologies’ U.S. workplace team, Inside Studio was invited to enhance the employee experience through the design of ancillary spaces and the selection of furniture and finishes. While the overall floor plan, workstations, and most enclosed meeting rooms had already been determined, our mandate focused on enriching the spaces where people connect, collaborate, and recharge.

Guided by the themes of contrast, movement, warmth, and brand identity, the design introduces a more animated layer to the workplace while responding to the client’s established design standards. Zebra’s signature stripe pattern became the project’s defining graphic element, interpreted through bold geometric compositions using carpet tile in three complementary colourways across the reception area and kitchen. Paired with wood-effect LVT flooring, these interventions create a rich, textured material palette.

The stripe pattern continues throughout the office in sweeping bands of custom-cut felt wall panels, introducing rhythm and movement across selected walls on the fourth and fifth floors. Existing ceiling heights presented another design challenge, as raising the ceilings was not feasible. Instead, the ceilings above the kitchen seating areas were painted black to create a greater sense of visual depth.

Suspended wood-effect felt panels, whose profiles echo the geometry of the feature wall treatments, were introduced to create the impression of exposed beams without requiring major technical interventions. Zebra’s signature blue is woven throughout the project—from furniture selections and the kitchen backsplash to carpeting, wall treatments, and decorative lighting—while vibrant yellow accents provide moments of energy and optimism, reinforcing the workplace’s welcoming atmosphere.

One of the highlights of the project was the collaboration with Zebra’s U.S.-based team and Montoni. Communication was consistently fluid, decisions were made efficiently, and the project moved forward seamlessly from beginning to end.

The project illustrates how thoughtful, targeted interventions can transform shared environments, bringing greater comfort, personality, and a stronger sense of identity to the everyday workplace. We are grateful to have contributed to a workplace that reflects Zebra Technologies’ culture while enhancing the everyday experience of its employees.
