It’s in Paris where Aesop has taken its retail operations to a whole new level by opening a sophisticated temporary salon. Aptly called Aesop Facial Appointments, it’s a collab with family design practice Paulin, Paulin, Paulin, and is situated in the latter’s office on rue St.-Honoré. Designer Benjamin Paulin incidentally passed the Aesop boutique on rue Condorcet and spotted a vintage Paulin Armchair. As a passionate admirer of Paulin’s work, the cosmetics brand’s internal architect Jean-Philippe Bonnefoi formed a relationship with the French Design Company, and this eventually led to creation of this space. Aesop Facial Appointments comprises of three rooms, all furnished with specially selected pieces designed by Paulin, Paulin, Paulin, and aims to offer soothing getaway from the city’s hustle and bustle.

The first room, marked by a stainless steel doorstep and an abundance of wax panels, instantly immerses visitors in an oasis of tranquility. Providing a conceptual connection between rooms and moods, a wooden passageway offers a structural element to the environment. In the second room, the palette shifts to softer tones of a shared space. A Paulin Élysée table with five little globe chairs edited by Artifort and a curved osaka sofa edited by la Cividina suggest the imagined presence of conversation and company. A doorway leads to the treatment space, another luxurious section, defined by leather a Paulin élysée chair and two vintage élysée floor lamps. The Aesop Facial Appountments salon will remain open through apr 30.
