Located within minibar, barmini by José Andrés is a creative “cocktail lab” that takes guests “on a whimsical, inventive journey of yesteryear via classic cocktails and ingredients.” Acting as Architect of Record on the barmini build-out, CORE collaborated and executed the restaurant design envisioned by renowned Spanish architect Juli Capella. Six people can sit at the bar that is divided into three, cozy 2-person “pods” where they can have a drink, sample menu items, and peek through an interior window to watch the minibar chefs at work.
White Corian bar tops and the textured laminate-covered back-bar give barmini the feel of a European home. Additional bar features include: herbs and food items on display behind the bar (instead of bottles of alcohol); a large photo-realistic “Cactus” sofa and “apple” poufs by Cerruti Baleri; a swing; and a shimmering metal-bead curtain that visually separates barmini from the flower-shaped banquette and low-slung couches where minibar guests gather for aperitifs and amuse-bouches.
