Loreak Mendian concept store, Bilbao – Spain

May 30th, 2013 by retail design blog

Loreak Mendian´s latest concept store opened its doors in Bilbao (C/Rodríguez Arias, 24). In this 180m2 surface, not only does the brand bring closer its collections to anyone who enters the store, but also its philosophy. Surf, Arts, Music and Roots form the unique combination that breathes life into the Loreak Mendian concept.

All different, but with a recognizable design. The goal of Loreak Mendian´s concept stores is to preserve each space´s personality, with a nod to its previous purposes or to the city where it is located. In Bilbao´s case, the city´s traditional beach culture is evoked in the place where boys´ and girls´ collections meet: the fitting rooms, which have been built in wood and emulate those early-20th Century beach boxes where people used to change clothes before going for a swim.

On the 10th of May took place the opening of the place, attended by many friends of the brand and representatives of the city´s media. Also in attendance were Víctor Serna, collection design manager, and Xabier Zirikiain, creative director.

Hardly surprising, since Xabi and Víctor are the most veteran pilgrims of the Loreak Mendian road since they opened a small store on the port of San Sebastian back in 1995. Today, 18 years later, Loreak Mendian is truly coming of age, with concept stores in San Sebastián, Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Coruña, Majadahonda, Gijón, Irún, Vitoria, París, Lyon and Melbourne.
