Kwanpen store by Betwin Space Design, Seoul

KWANPEN is a hand-made crocodile skin handbag brand based in Singapore. The KWANPEN Seoul boutique in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, is designed to suit a small number of manias rather than the general population. The first shop was opened 3 years ago which successfully implemented its’ own identity and arouse brand awareness to new customers.

Kwanpen’s space identity has been evaluated as symbolic icon of the brand itself. Base on the success, we tried to keep distinctive characters and create expanded shop identity. Design needed to be revised as the location and environment are different. This time there’s no façade to emphasize. To induce customers into the shop, concept of ‘Reversion’ was applied throughout the interior.

The design elements such as minimal shape, whiteness were taken and reversed to classic dark wooden material. The center mass consists of 9 fixtures to maximize the contrast. It creates shop environment just to focus on act of consuming. Space is light, dark and shining all at once.
