Coffee Commissary at Siren Studios by Tima Winter Inc. Design, Hollywood

July 23rd, 2013 by retail design blog

Coffee Commissary at Siren Studios is a novel approach to a business-friendly, high-end coffee shop. The interior, designed to work within a motion picture studio lobby caters to executives and celebrities alike, offering privacy and intimacy for power meetings over latte art.

With materials such as raw steel, resin, raw concrete, and glass, accented by custom furniture and light fixtures, the aesthetic is a sort of industrial chic. Artist Mike Jasorka provides his custom 50’s style comic book artwork throughout the coffee bar area contributing a sense of whimsy to the clean lines of the lobby.

The exterior caters to the coffee lover that appreciates a quality product. Designed simply to serve and seat, the utilitarian blackened steel tables and service windows accent the building’s façade. A black box awning with a marquee-style sign provides a dash of old Hollywood.

Custom features include a raw steel and glass cantilevered pivot door, a desk made up of raw plywood resembling draped fabric, and a galvanized steel marquee-like light fixture and, to add a splash of color, a bright red 18’ tall curtain pulled back to reveal the Siren logo.
