January 7th, 2014 by retail design blog

After a preceding pop-up with a limited range of goods, the real deal has finally opened. We’re talking Muji’s hotly anticipated new store in Los Angeles. After opening up shop in New York City and the golden state’s Bay area, this is the Japanese brand’s eighth, and at approx. 8,600 sq.ft. [799 sqm.], it’s also its largest store stateside. The Muji store occupies a unit at the Hollywood Galaxy Shopping Center and features an austere warehouse-like interior. The many offerings are presented by way of wooden shelving and displays, adding a softer, welcoming touch to the retail space.

The new Muji store carries a wide range of its popular apparel, accessories, beauty, home and travel products, along with new lines, including foods, a first in the u.s., and the Muji Labo and found Muji Niche clothing lines. Hugely popular in homeland Japan, Asia and Europe, the Muji brand aims to offer shoppers good quality products at reasonable prices. Its full name Mujirushi Ryohin means ‘no-brand quality goods’ in Japanese and the value of its product is in its effectiveness without a renowned brand or designer name. The very essence of Muji products lies in its simplicity, flexibility and modesty to fit different life styles and individual preferences.
