Although largely known for its many gaudy casino megaplexes, Macau is fast becoming a shopping destination to be reckoned with. A sizeable number of foreign brands are flocking to this buzzing tinseltown to set up shop or expand their local footprint, and aesop is one of them.

The Australian cosmetics brand has opened a signature at the Galaxy Macau, an expansive estate with three large hotels, casinos and a shopping mall. The store is situated occupies a 42 sqm. [452 sq.ft.] unit on the ground floor and features an interior deign created by the brand’s in-house design team.

A monochromatic palette, made of terrazzo blended with glass fragments of aesop bottles and walls covered in textured paint, define the retail setting, and provide a tranquil space withing the bustling mall. The terrazzo is also used to form a rectangular sales counter with rounded edges. As in all aesop stores an elongated sink, incorporated in a wall unit, is part of the interior.

A robust load-bearing column takes center stage, and is covered in slabs of mirrors, hand-painted on all sides to express a soft white gradient. The product range is presented on recessed shelving that runs along the wall. The new aesop store stocks the full rage of skin, body and hair care products.
