Jamaica suspension lamp by Marc Sadler for Foscarini

The suspension lamp Jamaica infuses a feeling of lightness with its soft suspended volume obtained by a sheet of paper covered by a thin layer of polymer, without enveloping it completely but instead attached at the bottom to the housing of the light source, free to illuminate the underlying surface directly.

Swiss design studio stockwerk3 have created this customisable aluminium pendant light whose form can be easily modified by repositioning of its elements. In total, five various configurations can be achieved and the minimalist ‘Hangover_no.1′ is produced in Switzerland.

Roll Lamp by Sébastien Cordoleani

Spain-based french designer Sébastien Cordoleani has developed ‘Roll Lamp’, a collection of pendant lights made from a single strand of cork. To create the lamps, a thin and long pre-glued section of cork is rolled into different forms around the base of the light – a process which has no material wasted during production since no mould is needed.

One of my brother’s neighbors peeled the birch bark off of a dead birch tree he had seen. Jared cut them to the right size we wanted, and using a leather punch he cut holes on each end of the “lampshade”.
